I found the Schein career anchor exercise to be quite interesting. From a few questions it got my work ethic correct. I am definitely up for the pure challenge and love working by myself.

Colgate Palmolive
I find the international program at Colgate Palmolive to be quite interesting. The idea of needed to spend several years overseas to continue the climb into management is a great idea for the company. Colgate being a large multi-national firm needs its top management to be exposed to different cultures and countries in which the company works and sales products. The cultural knowledge can truly only come from working and living overseas.
The major strong point is that management will get see how business is conducted in different countries. It is possible that something could be learned from this experience and brought back to the other countries. Secondly, the international experience will help management see the big picture and to realize that what processes work in one country may not work in another.
The only weaknesses would be that it is possible that talent could be lost from the company because the managers do not want to work internationally. The international experience is the only way to move up in the company some people may start their careers with Colgate but move onto other companies for higher positions in management.
I believe that CP is doing enough for dual career families. CP is adjusting pay for employee and helping spouses find a job or start a business. If a family cannot cope with the international assignments than the employee should find a new company to work for.
MNC's should consider the quality of person that are sending overseas and what the person can learn from the experience. Will this person become a better manager because he worked internationally or not.

Close to an End
Hello my friends,
The first point that Zoltan asked us is to evaluate our annual PDP on our blog and give feedback to each other. Well i think that this is not about our academical results but more deeper how our personalities changed. For me personally i think i have learned a lot about life here being alone in apartment for almost 10 months (for good or bad. even home i hate to be alome in my apartment). About you i think that you also learned a lot. For example Joey for shure learned a lot about the european culture and wether the people behave diferently on particular situations. For Fara for SURE i will say that the closer to the end we are he wants to finish everything as soon as possible and is also motivating me with that to become more organized (something that i really needed). I dont knw what else to say since we hang so much together that it seems funny to write to you guys on a blog :) Alex dont be angry at me i just dont know what to say about you because you are acting like the most mature person and you are handling so much extra curicular stuff that i can not see you apart from couple os sundays for the BackGammon :)

Nuturing Parent
First and foremost, I must say that the game we played with the names on our back was completely pointless. This group has been together too long to need to play ice breaker games. We do not need to play games to get to know each other.
Now the excercise was quite interesting. I was tied on my scores Nuturing Parent and Free Child, but I do believe the nuturing parent role is more applicable to me. Identifying myself as the nuturing parent made me think that I truly to like to help and encourage people.
Seeing the group broken up into the sub classes was quite helpful. I could see how each person fit to the type that the survey placed them in. It was interesting to be able to see the classifications with people that fit the roles.
Looking forward to the next class.

Half way through
MBA 22 has reached the end of the 3rd module which means we are half-way through the program. I have to admit that in several ways that I quite happy that it is almost over, but in reality I know that I am going to miss the good friends that I made in the program.
The next thing that I am considering is if this program is truly going to help me my future career plans. I am starting to have doubts, but I do not regret my decision to join the program.

Thanksgiving Entry
On Friday, several of my close MBA 22 friends and I celebrated Thanksgiving. It was an amazing day. I got introduce my friends to bit of my culture from the United States, while also enjoying the company of my friends and learning more about their cultures as well.
The food was quite amazing. It was not the typical U.S. Thanksgiving food, but I have to say the Romanian twist on the food made it an even better dinner than I have had in the states.
In spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks to everyone that I have met through this MBA program at CEU.
Once again, I am becoming a better man with every day that I spend here in Budapest and in this program.

Reflections of the career planning classes
Last week, we went through the goal development and planning assignment. Before starting this assignment I was quite skeptical of the process. At some point before in my prior life to MBA 22, I went through this process. If I recall correctly, the idea of going to a MBA program in Budapest did not come up in my goals, but the MBA 22 is the probably the best decision that I have every made in my life. To me the exercise is just an exercise in futility or at least show I thought.
I am not sure if was working with my good friends, Fara and Iasen or the excitement of Zoltan for the subject matter, but I do believe that I was able actually find a direction and goals that are attainable. The positive feedback from everyone made feel that I can plan and set the BHAG goals, Big Hairy Audacious Goals. I now have confidence knowing that MBA 22 is behind me and that I can reach and surpass these goals that I set for myself.
I want to give a big thanks to Fara and Iasen as well Zoltan for his overseeing of the project.
